Working at a high end lingerie boutique opened our eyes to a whole new world of luxury and indulgence. It did great things for our imagination…our wallet…not so much. Designer lingerie is unique because it’s more than just impeccable craftsmanship; it’s about intricate details, desire, seduction, romance, empowerment…emotions that bring fantasy alive. Oftentimes when lingerie gets “fancy” it can look trashy, but designer lingerie pushes the boundaries, creating scant pieces that are demure and sophisticated. Designers take into account a woman’s desires and needs, while typical “sexy” lingerie takes a man’s desires into consideration.
There are countless designers we covet. Bordelle, Carine Gilson, Fleur of England, La Perla, Eres…and I am sure we will feature pieces from these designers in the future. However, today we focus on Woldford, an Austrian designer that has a no-nonsense streamlined and architectural aesthetic. Plus, we found it fitting because it is the brand’s 60th anniversary, which results in special pieces that celebrate Wolford’s past and future. And can we say, Wolford really pays attention to form and function. Its pieces fit like a glove. Its hosiery is essentially indestructible (trust us, we ruin every pair of hosiery we own on first wear). All in all, we’re utterly obsessed. Here are some of our favorites, ranging from the new to the tried-and-true staples of the Wolford name.
