Unique Hotels in Washington
The Post Hotel
website | Leavenworth, WA | 309 8th St
I’ve been ogling over this unique place to stay in Washington since it opened. It’s a 1-minute walk from downtown Leavenworth and some of the best restaurants, yet it’s secluded thanks to its location overlooking the Waterfront Park and Wenatchee River.
The adult-only boutique hotel has an airy, minimalist quality to it with neutral decor, yet luxurious throughout. Many of the rooms feature marble, soaker tubs, and robes.
The main draw, though, is the spa. It includes various pools both indoor and out overlooking the beautiful Washington landscape. I haven’t been here yet, but I can’t stop thinking about soaking in the pools until my skin turns to prunes!
The Davenport Hotel
website | Spokane, WA | 10 S Post St
This historic, 4-star hotel is part of the Marriott’s Autograph Collection. I usually steer clear of chains for more boutique hotels, but this award-winning building is out of control beautiful. It includes ornate decorative molding, chandeliers, funky wallpaper, and luxurious details throughout that make it a popular event space.
There’s a wraparound balcony that gives you bird-eye views of the opulent lobby and dining room. Locals also know that the Peacock Lounge makes some of the best craft cocktails in the city.
This unique hotel is right in downtown Spokane, which makes it perfect for exploring my favorite Spokane attractions.
Fort Worden
website | Port Townsend, WA | 200 Battery Way
Fort Worden is a defunct military based turned state park. The property has a lot of quirky places to stay for families of all sizes, but the showstopper is Alexanders Castle. It features water views and walking distance access to some of the most popular trails in the park.
Another reason a stay here is a unique experience is that the park has batteries scattered throughout. They’re eery, but totally worth exploring. You’ll also get epic beach views from the park and see a ton of deer.
In addition, this spot is perfect for exploring all the things to do in Port Townsend. It’s also at the start of the peninsula, making it a good starting point for a Olympic National Park trip.
Captain Whidbey Inn
website | Whidbey Island, WA | 9702, 2027 W Capt Whidbey Inn Rd
This little inn is one of the best unique hotels in Washington for aesthetes. It’s nestled along the water on Whidbey Island, one of my favorite islands off Seattle with a ton of things to do. The current owners renovated the historic building to create stylish guest rooms, even partnering with some area taste makers like Glasswing to design the interiors (one of the best Seattle gift shops). It’s got that cool hotels, je nes sei quoi that makes it a popular spot to photograph for Instagram.
You’ll also find an onsite restaurant that takes advantage of the property’s prime time location overlooking the water. There’s a large deck area and fire pit perfect for sipping from Whidbey Island wineries as you take in the ambiance.
Loge Camps
website | Westport, WA | 1416 S Montesano St
This hostel and RV resort is the perfect location for exploring all the best Washington coast attractions. Guests can choose from a traditional hotel room with stylish furnishings or they can rent a campsite. They’ll have access to public areas for grilling, bonfires, and meals, as well as surfboard and kayak rentals.
Cave B Inn
link to book | Quincy, WA | 344 Silica Rd NW
Award-winning Cave B Winery in the heart of Yakima wine country area has a bunch of posh accommodations on their property, making it one of the best Washington wine country hotels. The adventurous can stay in yurts among the vineyards, or those looking for more traditional digs can stay in their apartment pods or cliffside cave condos, like this one.
Whatever your pick, you’ll be able to enjoy their pool, spa, restaurant, winery, and gorgeous grounds along the Columbia River. It’s also perfectly situated for exploring some of the best Pacific Northwest wineries.

Inn at the Market
website | Seattle, WA | 86 Pine St
If you want to stay in the heart of Pike Place Market and explore downtown like a local, the Inn at the Market is for you. This cool place to stay in Seattle has one of the best rooftop bars in Seattle with breathtaking views of the Puget Sound, Pike Place Market, and downtown from the roof and most of the guest rooms.
This hotel offers a bunch of luxurious amenities too, such as plush robes, in-room massages, and an onsite dining that’s one of the best French restaurants in Seattle.
Manresa Castle
website | Port Townsend, WA | 651 Cleveland St
You can stay at a castle on the Olympic Peninsula in the quaint town of Port Townsend, known for its historic Victorian architecture and boutiques. The castle was built in 1892 by two prominent members of the early Port Townsend business community. It has been updated to have modern amenities while still keeping its charm.
For example, there are three different concept restaurants on its premises. The Green Room is a speakeasy-style cocktail bar, The Rook a tapas restaurant, and The Elephant Room a sports bar.
The Sou’wester Lodge
link to book | Seaview, WA | 3728 J Place
This resort is one of the most unique hotels in Washington because it has vintage RV trailers. These refurbished beauties from the 50s and 60s include all the vintage charm you’d expect from the era (including record players!), but they’ve been updated to include modern conveniences. What’s more, the property features quirky amenities like a thrift shop, tea trailer, art gallery, and Finnish-style sauna. They also offer spa services like massages.
The Sou’western is located along the Washington coast at the very southern tip, making it the perfect jumping off ground for exploring Cape Disappointment and Astoria on your way to explore the Oregon coast. It has that Pacific Northwest, camping-meets-hipster vibe, making it a popular stop for millennials.
Methow Valley Rolling Huts
link to book | Winthrop, WA | 18381 WA-20
These mid century modern/Scandinavian-inspired buildings are an upscale alternative to camping. They feature huge windows overlooking the meadows in Methow Valley, one of the largest cross-country skiing destinations in the US and home to a magical hot air balloon festival each winter. It’s also near some of the best restaurants in Winthrop, WA.
There is a portable toilet connected to each unit, but there’s also a fully-operational public bathroom on the property. Each also includes wifi, a microwave, mini fridge, and cozy fireplace.
Tiny House Village
link to book | Leavenworth, WA | 20752 Chiwawa Loop Rd
The Tiny House Village in Leavenworth is nestled in an RV campground. It features about 8 brightly colored tiny homes with all the amenities you could imagine: a fully operational bathroom, kitchen, TV, and wifi. It overlooks a small pond and has walking distance access to spectacular cross-country skiing trails in the winter. It’s also the perfect location for exploring larch hikes in fall.
I stayed in the Rudolf tiny house and was absolutely blown away by how comfortable it was. Check in was easy peasy, there wasn’t a soul in sight, and we had all the modern comforts from home. It was super clean and the loft bed was particularly comfortable.
There are a few other tiny homes you can choose from at the Leavenworth Tiny House Village:

The Society Hotel
link to book | Bingen, WA | 210 N Cedar St
This is one of the most unique hotels in Washington that I’ve stayed at. It’s built in a historic elementary school that was refurbished to be a posh boutique hotel meets hostel. But this isn’t any hostel. While there are bunk room and shared bathroom options, there are private ensuite rooms, super clean and inspiring vintage decor, and an incredible Scandinavian-style bath house.
There’s also a tiny coffee shop and cafe in the lobby doling out incredible breakfast and serving craft cocktails for happy hour. You can grab your food and drink to enjoy in the lobby that’s decorated to look like a library-meets-living room. Then check out the hot tub and pools in the Scandinavian-inspired pool house built in the old playfields.
It’s nestled among a small town about 15 minutes from Hood River, Oregon, which makes it perfect for visiting Columbia River Gorge and knocking two states off your Pacific Northwest bucket list.
The Marie B&B
website | Olympia, WA | 123 Cushing St W
This historic bed and breakfast features breathtaking woodwork and vintage charm throughout the house. Innkeepers James Simmons and Jacci Butler took over the space, and James experience in the restaurant business means breakfast here is serious business.
This unique hotel in Washington state is the perfect starting point for exploring Olympia like a local.
