The holidays are a great time to explore the best Seattle gift shops. Not only are you supporting local, but you’re picking up a thoughtful gift your loved one likely can’t find anywhere else.
Seattle has a ton of gift shops for everything from souvenirs to unique handmade items. I love visiting them in person to browse the shelves and pick the perfect gift. It often results in a more personal touch for the recipient, but it also feels more rewarding for me because it’s an immersive experience that screams “the holidays are here”.
Here are the best Seattle gift shops you have to visit no matter what time of year…even if you only make it to their websites!
Best Seattle Gift Shops
I have a post laying out the best shopping destinations in Seattle and the stores you need to visit in each. Below is my list of absolute favorite shops for picking up unique and thoughtful gifts across every neighborhood. They skew toward gift shops that have a variety or items, so check out my other guide if you’re looking for specific stores, like vintage or women’s clothing.
The Handmade Showroom
website | 600 Pine St (Downtown) | best for: handmade gifts
The Handmade Showroom is in the most unexpected spot: Pacific Place! This shopping mall in downtown Seattle has your typical high street stores, but this gift shop is tucked on an upper floor and sells gift items from makers around the Pacific Northwest.
Their inventory got so big that they actually opened another storefront in Pacific Place called Bezel + Kiln that also has a ton of unique Pacific Northwest gifts. Every time I’m downtown, I make sure to stop here for some interesting finds.
Seattle Art Source
website | 5531 Airport Way S (Georgetown) | best for: affordable original art
If you are original art curious, but intimidated by art galleries, Seattle Art Source is for you. I worked with curator Sarah Hurt to outfit my home with art and she taught me original art doesn’t have to be prohibitively expensive.
She curates items from emerging local artists who are extremely talented. See that beautiful painting above the fireplace in the picture above? That’s my home and a piece I bought from Sarah! Find out more about the artist and other amazing ones Sarah helped me discover in my article about the best Pacific Northwest artists.
Pro tip: Seattle Art Source shares a space with Adorn, a beautiful home furniture shop that also has some home gift items.
Made in Washington
website | 1530 Post Alley (Downtown) | best for: food gifts
This spot in Pike Place Market is a mecca for Pacific Northwest food gifts. It’s owned by the same company that owns Seabear Smoked Salmon, who I actually worked with to create this mouth-watering smoked salmon stuffed shells recipe.
Since they’re sister brands, you’ll find a lot of yummy Seabear products at Made in Washington. If salmon isn’t your thing, you’ll also find a ton of other handmade gifts and food items that highlight the type of things Washington is known for, like coffee, apples, cherries, and more.
Fruitsuper
website | 524 1st Ave S (Pioneer Square) | best for: Scandi-functional gifts
This Seattle gift shop in historic Pioneer Square features modern gift items perfect for the person who likes to make sure everything in their home has a thoughtful use. For example, I just added a chic keyboard duster to my Christmas list after spotting it in this store because it’s the perfect little item I didn’t even know I needed!
Venue Ballard
website | 5408 22nd Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: handmade gifts
Every holiday season I make the rounds at my favorite stores in downtown Ballard. This is one of the best Seattle gift shops always on my list of places to stop. They sell gift items from under-the-radar artists throughout the Pacific Northwest.
You can find all types of items here, but I’d say art is one of their biggest draws. The reason I think this is one of Seattle’s best gift shops is that it includes styles suitable for all tastes and ages. A lot of stores have one demographic in mind, often a younger Millennial, but I find things for my mom here as well.
Station 7
website | 1400 15th Ave E (Capitol Hill) | best for: handmade home and dry goods
I stumbled into this store once when visiting a friend in eastern Capitol Hill. It’s in a historic brick building that I wouldn’t mind calling my home. Inside you’ll find a ton of thoughtful handmade gifts for around the home. I especially like coming here for little trinkets and decor items that I think will make someone smile.
Casa di LaValle
website | 108 S Jackson St Suite 108 (Pioneer Square) | best for: impossibly chic decor and gifts
I’ve been following Cassandra LaValle ever since she started a lifestyle blog called Coco + Kelly. She’s finally made her dream to open a shop a reality and we’re so lucky to have her impeccable eye grace the Seattle shopping scene. You’ll find art, new and vintage home decor items, and a bunch of thoughtful curiosities throughout the historic building she rents.
Pro tip: Hayley Francis of Neon Doves sells her beautifully curated rugs out of Casa di LaValle!
And Arlen
website | 4130 California Ave SW (West Seattle) | best for: affordable jewelry
And Arlen is dedicated to making jewelry at accessible price points. You’ll find minimalist pieces using interesting gems and metals. For a sample of their work, check out the delicate gold necklace with turquoise
Sweet Mickey’s Candy Shoppe
website | 5338 Ballard Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: candy
This is my go-to shop for picking up candy. They have a great selection of items, including everything from old-school sour belts to artisanal licorices from around the world.
Woodland Mod
website | 5330 Ballard Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: Scandinavian home goods
You can’t help but feel cool when you shop at Woodland Mod. They curate minimalist decor goods that’ll add some hygge to anyone’s home.
Big Whale Consignment
website | 10001 Aurora Ave N (Greenwood) | best for: handmade gifts and antiques
Big Whale is one of my favorite antique shops in Seattle. However, many people don’t realize they also have a pop-up market area full of great gifts at all price points. You’ll find art, pottery, stationary, jewelry, decor, and more.
Seattle Art Museum
website | 1300 1st Ave (Downtown) | best for: unique, artistic gifts
How many times have you gone through the gift shop at a museum and cringed at the tchotchke? Yeah, me too. But I promise that SAM has really chic gift items you’d actually want to buy, many from local PNW artists.
In fact, most of the museums in Seattle have great gifts. Check out the Frye Museum Downtown, National Nordic Museum in Ballard, MOHAI in South Lake Union, and Wing Luke Museum in Chinatown-International District for more gift ideas.
Mainstay Provisions
website | 612 NW 65th St (Ballard) | best for: food gifts
Mainstay Provisions pivoted to be a larder during the pandemic. The concept stuck and now they’re one of my go-to shops for picking up pantry staples and wine.
Baleen
website | 6418 20th Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: jewelry
Baleen is one of the first jewelry makers I fell in love with when I moved to Seattle. They have a range of minimalist and statement pieces all made using recycled materials. So not only will you or your loved one look impossibly cool, you can feel good about your purchase too.
La Dispensa
website | 1424 11th Ave Suite E (Capitol Hill) | best for: Italian food items
Osteria la Spiga, one of the best Italian restaurants in Seattle, has been curating delivery boxes full of imported and homemade goods. My dad actually gets these each month and I’m always surprised by the amount you get for the price.
Now you can pick up their carefully-curated Italian goods in a separate storefront tucked in Chophouse Row. You’ll find items they make in house in addition to hard-to-find goods straight from Italy.
Rabecca Onassis Boutique
website | 2134 Western Ave unit 118 (Downtown) | best for: women’s fashion
You may recognize the impossibly chic Frilancy for her fashionable posts on Instagram. She’s the owner of Rabecca Onassis Boutique near Pike Place Market. You can expect to find colorful and bold women’s clothing meant to leave an impression.
Pro tip: Her husband, Mike Spade, owns a cool hat shop a few doors down.
Ada’s Technical Books
website | 425 15th Ave E (Capitol Hill) | best for: nerdy books and gifts
Right down the road from Station 7 is Ada’s Technical Books and Cafe. This place has a ton of off-beat books for the nerd in your life. They also have puzzles, board games, and other geeky gifts that are perfect for my boyfriend and his brothers come Chanukah.
Pro tip: Check out my gift guide for nerds and geeks for more ideas!
Butter Home
website | 1424 11th Ave, Chophouse Row (Capitol Hill) | best for: functional home goods
I’m hard pressed not to buy stuff for myself every time I visit Butter. It’s a bit hidden inside Chophouse Row, but it always has interesting home decor items. Last time I was here I bought the cutest gold animal magnets for myself because it’s not one of the best Seattle gift shops if you don’t also end up picking up an item for yourself!
Retrofit Home
website | 1103 E Pike St (Capitol Hill) | best for: decor and bobbles
I love popping into Retrofit Home because they have fun decor and furniture for the home. I especially love their planters, so if you’re a plant parent this is one of the best gift shops in Seattle for you!
Glasswing
website | 1525 Melrose Ave (Capitol Hill) | best for: hipster goods and plants
I instantly feel cooler every time I step inside this store. They sell a lot of clothes from indie designers for both men and women, but you’ll also find interesting home items that look right out of a Kinfolk magazine.
Like any true hip Millennial, they are also a bit obsessed with plants. So much in fact that they also opened Glasswing Greenhouse for gifts every plant parent would lust over.
Monster
website | 1716 NW Market St (Ballard) | best for: quirky, artsy gifts
Monster is another store perfect for the artistic and geeky person in your life. They have a ton of fun, quirky socks and craft kits perfect for the person who wants to try their hand at making something themselves.
Mox Boarding House
website | 5105 Leary Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: geeky board games
I used to come here a lot to play board games and hang in their cafe. They sell a ton of board games, from the popular to the obscure. I love how you can try before you buy, since it can be overwhelming to determine if you’ll like a game from the box. If you have someone in your life who loves games, this is the gift shop in Seattle you have to visit.
Pro tip: They also have a location on the Eastside if that’s more convenient for you.
Annie’s Art and Frames
website | 2212 NW Market St (Ballard) | best for: useful stocking stuffers
I come here throughout the year every time I need a piece of art custom framed. But during the holidays I also browse around for quirky items that make perfect stocking stuffers. I’ve yet to come here for some Christmas shopping and not left with something for everyone on my list. That makes it one of the best Seattle gift shops for sure!
Prism
website | 5208 Ballard Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: modern his & her gifts
This is another one of those hip boutiques fitting of Kinfolk magazine. They have a good selection of women’s and men’s clothing along the perimeter of the store, but in the center they have a ton of beautiful items that could be on display in a museum. You’ll find jewelry, ceramics, books, and unique things like crystals. I always find a gift item here for the person on my list who loves a bit of woo woo.
Valerie Madison Fine Jewelry
website | 1422 34th Ave (Madrona) | best for: jewelry, especially engagement rings
I can’t help but like literally every single one of Valerie’s engagement rings on Instagram. She designs beautiful pieces that are classic but with a modern and fresh twist. You’ll also find dainty necklaces, rings, earrings, and more at her shop tucked away in the Madrona neighborhood in eastern Seattle. She’s selling some of the best local Seattle jewelry!
Eighth Generation
website | 1406 1st Ave (Downtown) | best for: Indigenous-made goods
Eighth Generation is one of Seattle’s best gift shops because you can purchase Native goods directly from Indigenous makers. The store is owned by the Snoqualmie Tribe, who was instrumental in reclaiming “Native inspired” work, particularly blankets, from non-Indigenous companies profiting off traditional designs. In fact, they were the first company in North America to do so, which led the way for more Native-owned businesses to sell their goods.
Sfingiday
website | 513 N 36th At (Fremont) | best for: handmade gifts
This spot in Fremont is a fun place to find goodies made by artists around the Pacific Northwest. You’ll find a collection of food items, decor, art, and accessories for all tastes here. If you’re visiting this is also a great spot for Seattle souvenirs.
DIGS
website | 2002 NW Market St (Ballard) | best for: Scandinavian-style housewares
I love this furniture and decor shop in downtown Ballard. I recently just bought the most comfortable sofa couch here, which had me going into the shop on 4 different trips within the span of a few weeks. While there I couldn’t help myself from also perusing their tables and shelves with modern and functional items I imagine would adorn every home in Sweden.
Sacred Circle Gallery
website | Day Break Star (Magnolia) | best for: Native-made goods
Sacred Circle is another Native-owned company raising awareness and opportunities for Indigenous makers. It’s a nonprofit owned by the United Indians of All Tribes Foundations that works with tribal artists to sell their beautiful work. They also have a location inside the Sea-Tac Airport if you can’t make it to their cultural center in Discovery Park.
Fair Trade Winds
website | 5323 Ballard Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: gifts made by international artisans
I always find beautiful gifts here. They sell items made by artisans across the world who they support through Fair Trade practices. That means every time you buy an item, money goes directly to the maker to help support their livelihood. I love how they also include the story of the makers on the labels so you can learn a bit about where it came from.
The Whale Wins
website | 3506 Stone Way N (Fremont) | best for: foodie gifts
During the pandemic, The Whale Wins pivoted to become a larder selling wine and curated foodie goods from around the world. While they’re open again as a regular restaurant, they kept a portion of their restaurant as a larder. It’s a great spot to stop in for foodie items, particularly from Italy.
Book Larder
website | 4252 Fremont Ave N (Fremont) | best for: cookbooks
This is one of the best Seattle gift shops when you need gifts for chefs. They sell every cookbook you can think of, some signed. They also have little baubles perfect for the home, like tea towels, food journals, and obscure foodie magazines. I volunteer here during their author book talks and can attest to what a gem this spot is!
Mixed Pantry
website | 2233 1st Ave (Belltown) | best for: curated Asian ingredients
If you know someone who loves to cook Asian food at home, you’ll want to check out Mixed Pantry. They’re mission is to offer authentic Asian food items that showcase the richness of Asian cuisine. You’ll find goods from across the Asian diaspora (that you won’t find elsewhere) and the staff is super knowledgeable about each item and its story.
Glazer’s Camera
website | 811 Republican St (South Lake Union) | best for: camera gear
Any photographer in Seattle will tell you Glazer’s is the best Seattle gift shop for camera nerds. I’ve gotten all my cameras and lenses here, plus traded in my old ones. They have everything from unique stocking stuffers to equipment, so you’ll definitely find that obscure item on your photographer’s list.
Pro tip: Check out my gift guide for techies for more camera gift ideas!
Evo
website | 3500 Stone Way N (Fremont) | best for: outdoorsy gifts
Evo is my go-to gift shop for skiing, biking, or other alternative sports gear. I purchased my own snowboard boots there and make sure to stop here anytime my skiing family needs some new gear.
Snapdoodle
website | 120 N 80th St (Greenwood) | best for: kids toys
This is my go-to for getting gifts for my nieces. My favorite thing about this toy store is it has a mix of both thoughtful, educational gifts and characters my nieces recognize. While I like the idea of those chic children’s boutiques like Clover Toys that sell handmade items you’d assume all French parents give their children, my nieces want the colorful characters they see on commercials and in school. So I love how I can find things like Harry Potter legos here as well as a STEM kit that teaches them something.
Flora and Henri
website | 401 1st Ave S (Pioneer Square) | best for: feminine lifestyle and clothing gifts
This boutique is a wonderland for modern women and kids gifts, particularly the clothing, jewelry, and home decor variety. Every time I walk into this shop it’s like I’m transported into the home of the chicest person I know. Everything is organized and thoughtfully placed to really immerse you in a vibe, which is definitely a characteristic you want in the best Seattle gift shops!
Stórica
website | 917 Western Ave (Downtown) | best for: hammered metal and gem jewelry
I would have never discovered Stórica (previously called Silver + Salt) if I hadn’t taken a spoon making class with jewelry maker, Christine. Her and her team forge beautiful gold and silver jewelry that look like they should cost way more than they do. For the person who loves that hand-forged look with a pop of vibrant gemstone, this place is for you!
Swansons Nursery
website | 9701 15th Ave NW (Crown Hill) | best for: plant and holiday gifts
I’ve given Swanson’s way too much of my money with the 40+ plants I have around my home. Come spring break in Seattle, I head here to buy new plant babies for the growing season.
They are a mecca for plant parent gifts. I’ve gotten so many cute pots and useful things like fertilizer here. They also have a great gift shop with cute items for around the home.
During the holidays they turn their greenhouse into a holiday wonderland, so it’s also a great spot to pick up unique ornaments and Christmas decor. I go here every year with my nieces to pick out an ornament and am always amazed at the fun ones they have.
DeLaurenti
website | 1435 1st Ave (Downtown) | best for: Italian foodie items
DeLaurenti is the go-to emporium for all things Italian. They curate sauces, cheeses, olive oils, wines, condiments, and more from all over Italy. They also offer a lot of gift boxes if you are overwhelmed by the idea of choosing what to get!
Big John’s PFI
website | 1608 S Dearborn St (Central District) | best for: Italian foodie items
Big John’s is the other best Seattle gift shop for Italian food goods. Compared to DeLaurenti, I find this spot has a bit more of the old school Italian-American foodie items I remember eating when I grew up. They also have a wide selection of foodie items from other areas in Europe for those who miss hard-to-find snacks and pantry staples from home.
September
website | 5410 22nd Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: hipster gifts for him and her
This is another one of the best Seattle gift shops for the hip Millennial in your life. They feature items for both men and women, with a healthy amount of clothing and accessories, plus a well-curated section of items for around the home. This is a spot where I always struggle to decide if the item in my hand is for my sister or me.
Georgetown Trailer Mall
website | 5805 Airport Way S (Georgetown) | best for: upcycled and vintage gifts
I love the quirky trailer park shops in Georgetown. They feature fun handmade gifts, both vintage and upcycled into new and quirky gift items. It’s also a perfect excuse for exploring some of the best antique shops located right along the main drag where the mall is located. It’s perfectly located for also doing my Georgetown food tour!
Brother Joe
website | 5629 Airport Way S (Georgetown) | best for: foodie items
Brother Joe is a coffee shop, cafe, and convenience store all in one. They curate mostly local foodie items and home essentials like pickles, hand soaps, liqueurs, condiments, and more. It’s a great place to stop when perusing the Georgetown neighborhood!
Fleurt Collective
website | 4536 California Ave SW (West Seattle) | best for: home goods
Fleurt Collective is one of the best gift shops in Seattle when you need a one-stop shop for the most stylish people in your life. You’ll find clothing, jewelry, apothecary goods, and even plants artfully arranged around a cool storefront.
Storied at Home
website | 3829B Edmunds St (Columbia City) | best for: home goods
Mark and Jana Hunter owned a design build firm before deciding to focus on the finishing touches that make a house a home. They started an online retail shop before opening up a gorgeous storefront with a great collection of home gifts that make great conversation starters.
Hardmill
website | 5531 Airport Way S (Georgetown) | best for: leather gifts
Hardmill is one of my go-to spots for handmade leather gifts. You’ll find everything from belts and wallets to kitchen items like aprons, coasters, knife rolls, and more. They have a hipster vibe that reminds me of Austin, Texas, so it’s the perfect gift for the aesthete in your life.
Capers
website | 4525 California Ave SW (West Seattle) | best for: home decor
This West Seattle shop is a must visit if you need to outfit your home, but tucked between the shelves is a treasure trove of fun locally-made gifts.
Mystery Made
website | 4312 SW Oregon St (West Seattle) | best for: men’s gifts
This tiny shop is hidden off the main drag of California Ave in West Seattle. It focuses exclusively on men’s clothing and lifestyle items. The quality is impeccable and the vibe moody and minimal. This is perfect for the person in your life who has an understated but sophisticated style.
Tansy
website | 1600 Dexter Ave N (South Lake Union) | best for: plants and gifts
This gorgeous plant shop is sure to leave you inspired. Not only does it look like a fairy oasis as you shop, but there is a great selection of hard-to-kill and tropical plants sure to make any plant parent happy.
Hoste
website | 2332 California Ave SW (West Seattle) | best for: home goods
This hip shop has a great collection of everyday staples and irreverent conversation starters. For example, you’ll find sweaters that will never go out of style along side magnets shaped like a picnic.
