If you got part one of our May events calendar that went out via our newsletter last week, you know the horrible truth about May. It’s full of crazy awesome events…but most of them fall on the same day. What kind of cruelty is this?
We’re all going to be faced with some tough decisions this month. To help make it a bit easier, I’ve curated three of the best events happening in Seattle this Saturday. All you have to do is decide if you want to oyster, beer, or treasure this weekend.
If you aren’t signed up for our newsletter, you’ll miss part two of our May event list going out in a few weeks. And that would be a shame because there are some friggin’ awesome events coming up. 3 Things to Do in Seattle This Saturday
Search for Treasure at a Spring Market
If you want to get in some road trippin’ this weekend, head to Olympia, WA for the Girlfriends Spring Market. You can browse through more than 40 vendors selling home and garden treasures. They’ll setup shop in a beautiful barn and sell vintage, antique, upcycled, crafted, and mid-century modern pieces. There will also be wood-fired pizza to provide sustenance for all the shopping.
Shuck It at Hama Hama Oyster Rama
If you like oysters, u-pick, eating, Rene Erickson, drinking, the sun…pretty much anything, you’ll want to check out the Hama Hama Oyster Rama event happening at the Hama Hama Oyster Company’s farm in Lilliwaup, WA. They’ll be hosting a series of events from 11 am – 4 pm that include u-pick oysters and clams, tours, shucking competitions, and lots of eats. Chef Rene Erickson will also be there guiding guests through an oyster and wine tasting. We visited the Hama Hama Oyster farm a few weeks ago and made a killer grilled oyster recipe with butter two ways. We had so much fun, so we highly recommend this!
Bask in the Glory of Bacon and Beer
If oysters and wine are a bit too highbrow for you, stay home in Seattle and check out the annual Bacon and Beer Classic. This annual festival at Safeco field serves all-you-can-eat samples of beer and bacon bites for three hours. I say if you’re going to have a belly bomb of a day, might as well make it count.
